Mustang: Koto - Naar

In Koto (2.600 m ) the trekking routes are dividing: one is following the Annapurna Trek to Manang and further along the Marsyangdi river to Muktinath via the Thorong La pass. We took the northern route along the Naar valley crossing the Teri La pass to Lo Manthang in Mustang. During the next two days we followed the spectacular canyon of the Naar-Phu Khola to the small village of Naar.

A steep path is leading through the alpine forests and rock walls of the Naar-Phu Valley.

At our camp near Meta at 3650 m we got an impressive view of Lamjung Himal (summit to the left - 6890 m). From here on another we needed a new trekking permit.

The first picture shows the north face of Jong Ri or Pisang Peak (6.091 m) which is climbed quite often during the Annapurna Trek. The pyramid in picture three is a 6.400 m peak of the Damodar range followed by Kang Guru (6.981 m) in the next picture.

A line of Stupas (Choerten) signalized that we had reached the village of Naar.
