Trekking Tag 2: Rizong - Lamayuru
Über Kalatse am Indus fahren wir am zweiten Tag westwärts auf der Strasse nach Mulbekh und Srinagar, um das Kloster Lamayuru zu besichtigen. Lamayuru liegt eine halbe Tagesreise (etwa 120 km) westlich von Leh und ist eines der ältesten und größten Klöster in Ladakh. Es liegt auf einem Felssporn in einer kargen Felsenlandschaft mit beeindruckenden Erosionsformen, die auch als 'Moonland Valley' bezeichnet wird.
On the second day we carry on following the Indus river on the road to Mulbekh and Srinagar up to Lamayuru monastery which is one of the oldest and biggest monasteries in Ladakh. It is located on a rock spur in a barren landscape with impressive erosion landforms and is also called the 'Moonland Valley'.
Die Strasse von Leh nach Srinagar führt auf etwa 3000 m Höhe am Oberlauf des Indus entlang.
The road from Leh to Srinagar is following the upper course of the Indus river at an altitude of about 3.000 m.
Einem Seitental nach Südwesten folgend erreichen wir 15 km vor der Passhöhe des Fatu La Passes Lamayuru. Das ehemalige Gelbmützen Kloster wurde im 11. Jahrhundert gegründet und beherbergt heute etwa 150 Mönche, die der Drigunkpa Kargyüpa-Schule angehören.
Following a side valley in south-western direction we finally arrive at Lamayuru, one of the largest and oldest monasteries in Ladakh. The monastery was founded in the 11th century by members of the Yellow-Hat sect. Meanwhile up to 150 monks of the Drigunkpa Kargyüpa school are living in Lamayuru.

Das älteste Gebäude des Klosters Lamayuru, der Löwentempel, wurde im 11. Jahrhundert von Rinchen Sangpo erbaut. Zur selben Zeit meditierte dort auch der indische Mahasiddha Naropa.

In vielen Serpentinen führt die Strasse von Lamayuru hinunter ins Industal und zurück nach Tingmogang, wo wir unsere Zelte aufbauen.
A winding road is leading from Lamayuru down into the Indus valley and further to Tingmogang the place for our next camp.
