Korsika: Bonifacio
Bonifacio an der Südspitze Korsikas wurde im Jahre 828 von dem toskanischen Grafen Bonifacio II. gegründet, es gab aber schon seit der mittleren Steinzeit Siedlungen auf der Insel. Die Altstadt von Bonifacio liegt auf einem 70m hohen Kalksteinplateau, welches den fjordartigen Hafen vor dem offenen Meer trennt.
The town of Bonifacio on the southmost point of Corse was founded in 828 by Count Bonifacio II from Toscany. The earliest settlements on the island can already be dated back to the Stone Age. Bonifacio is situated on top of a 70 m limestone plateau which separates the harbour from the open sea.

Etwa 70 m fallen die Kalkfelsen senkrecht zum Meer ab. Hier an der Südküste Korsikas ist das Wasser noch sauber. In etwa 15 km Entfernung kann man die Nordküste Sardiniens sehen.
The limestone rocks are dropping vertically 70 m down to the sea. The water is still clean on the south coast of Corsica. The north coast of Sardinia is just about 15 kms away.
Astern begnügen sich mit wenig trockenem Boden auf den Felsen. Eine Nacht lagerten wir oberhalb der Felsen um am nächsten Morgen den Bus Richtung GR 20 zu erreichen.
Aster are satisfied with just a small amount of dry soil on the rocks. We stayed one night on top of the rocks in order to get the bus in direction of the GR 20 early next morning.
