Marbach: Stadtkirche - Niklastor - Alexanderkirche

The Niklastor Street is leading from the market place to Cotta Place and Niklas Gate passing the town church which was rebuild after the great fire in 1693. Along the way there are quite a few timber-framed houses (one of them the birth place of Friedrich Schiller) and a fountain with the city arms of Marbach. The Alexander Church beyond the town wall is said to be one of the most beautiful gothic churches in Southern Germany.

Friedrich Schiller the famous classical poet and dramatist was born in 1759 in the central of the three timbered houses which can easily be recognized by a plaque which is advising the visitor of this fact.
