Testa del Rutor is the highest point of a glacial area between Mont Blanc and Grand Paradiso. Between Courmayeur and 'Kleiner St. Bernhard' pass we follow a small road in direction La Joux. Starting at an altitude of 1624 m it takes about 2.5 hours to reach the Deffeyes Hut. Along the way there are footpaths leading to 3 different cascades which are worth to be seen. The first part of the ascent route takes us through broken rocks and debris onto the gently rising glacier leading to the Rutor Pass (3373 m). This pass is also the traverse to the Val Grisanche and the Scavarda hut from where Rutor can be climbed in about 3 hours with only a minimal glacier crossing. From this pass a flat ridge covered with debris and rocks leads to the summit (4.5 hours from the Deffeyes Hut).
