Diedamskopf

Being on vacation in the Bregenzerwald region does not necessarily mean you are hiking in the mountain range of the same name. Diedamskopf for example is part of the Allgäu Alps even if not many people would expect it to be there. Like many other mountains in this area it is a well known ski resort with a cableway leading up to 70 m below the summit. There are however some nice hiking trails between the summit and the middle station like for example the 'Plateau Circle Hike' which all have one thing in common: an excellent view.

Diedamskopf is also a prime address for paragliders as it is easy to reach with excellent thermal conditions especially in spring and early summer.

Of course the conditions can change very rapidly...

Gently rising grassy slopes and steeply falling north faces are typical for the mountains in the Bregenzerwald area. Cracks in the summit ridge are showing the effect of the erosive action and some of the holes might be deeper than expected.

Hoher Ifen and Widderstein are the eye-catchers of the panorama in eastern direction. The rest of the panorama will be supplied on our next visit, when the fog has cleared away.
