Pordoi Joch - Sella Joch

Another tour which we can recommend lead us through the Fassa Valley to the Pordoi Pass and via Sella Pass, Grödner Valley and Seiser Alm back to Tiers. Piz Boe (3152 m) would have been the ultimate panorama summit but at this time of the year it is rather a ski tour. We were pleased with Sass Pordoi (2950 m) which also shows an interesting panorama.

Pordoi Joch

The ultimate panorama summit is definitely Piz Boe (3152 m). Unfortunately there was still too much snow. We were content with staying at Sass Pordoi where we also found an excellent panorama as sor example to Langkofel and the Oetztal Alps. The rounded summit in the foreground is Piz Ciavazes with the Sella Towers below.

In southern direction: thePala Group to the left with Cima di Focobon (3054 m), Cima Vezzana (3192 m) and Cimon della Pala (3198 m). In front of them Cima dell' Uomo (3010 m).

Der 'Kailash' der Dolomiten: die Tofana di Rozes (3225 m).

Tofana di Rozes (3225 m) could be called the Dolomitean Kailash.

Monte Pelmo (3168 m) and to the right the needle of Duranno (2666 m) which already belongs to the Friaulian Dolomites.

The first photo was taken in western direction starting at Adamello and Presanella and continuing with the Ortler Range up to the Ötztal Alps right of the rock summit of Langkofel.

In southern direction Marmolada is dominating which is followed by the Pala Group. In the center of the picture Latemar and Rosengarten can be figured out. In the background as already mentioned Adamello, Presanella....

Also to the east we found an impressive scenery with Sorapis, Antelao and Monte Pelmo. The needle right of Monte Pelmo is Duranno which already belongs to the Friaulian Dolomites, right of it the massive rock face of Civetta.
