Panorama Gallery: Sikkim 1

Die folgenden Aufnahmen entstanden auf einer Trekkingreise in West Sikkim im Spätherbst 2002.

Von Darjeeling aus gelangten wir in einer ca. 9 stündigen Busfahrt auf ausgesetzten Serpentinenstraßen in das Örtchen Uttarey, dem Startpunkt einer 14-tägigen Trekkingtour. Von dort ging es durch ursprünglichen Bergwald hinauf nach Chewa Bhangjang (3140 m) auf die Singalila Range, den von Süden nach Norden verlaufenden Grenzkamm zu Nepal. Zur Akklimatisation kann man von hier leicht den südlich gelegenen Singalila Peak (3685 m) besteigen.

In den nächsten 5 Tagen wanderten wir nun auf einsamen Pfaden immer auf der Kammhöhe der Singalila Range nordwärts bis Gomathang (ca. 3800 m), wobei mehrfach Pässe über 4000 m Höhe (max. ca 4600 m) zu überschreiten waren. Dabei hatten wir immer wieder überwältigende Ausblicke nach Nepal bis zum Khumbu Himal, zu Kabru, Kangchendzönga und Pandim, bis hin zu den Grenzbergen nach Tibet und Bhutan. Von Gomathang ging es über Tikipchu zu dem schön gelegenen Lagerplatz Dzongri, wo wir auf die Haupttrekkingroute von Yuksam zum Goecha La stießen. Auf dem oberhalb von Dzongri gelegenen „Holy Hill“ erlebten wir bei Sonnenaufgang ein fantastisches Panorama mit Kabru, Kangchendzönga und Pandim.

The following pictures were taken on a trekking tour through western Sikkim in late autumn 2002.

The trek started in Darjeeling with a 9 hours bus ride to the village of Uttarey, the starting point of our two weeks hike. Walking through natural forests we reached Chewa Bhangjang (3140m) on the Singalila Range which marks the border to Nepal in south-northern direction. Climbing the Singalila Peak (3685m) can be recommended as it helps to get acclimatised.

For the next five days we followed lonely paths on top of Singalila Range until to the village of Gomathang (3800m). During this part of the trek several 4000m passes had to be traversed (max. 4600m) with overwhelming views to Nepal and the Khumbu Himal, Kabru, Kangchenjunga and Pandim up to the the border ranges of Tibet and Bhutan. Via Tikipchu we finally reached the nicely situated campsite at Dzongri where we joined the main trekking route from Yuksam to Goecha La. On top of 'Holy Hill' just above Dzongri we had an excellent panorama covering Kabru, Pandim and Kangchenjunga.
