Panoramen aus dem Oberen Vinschgau

Aussichtsberg Watles

In Burgeis at the western edge of 'Malser Haide' a road is leading up to the Bendictine monastery Marienberg and further to the valley station of the Watles cableway.

Watles has the reputation of being one of the finest vantage points in the entire Vinschgau which is definitely true already during the ascent where we passed two small lakes called 'Pfaffenseen'. The summit view includes the Ötztal mountains as well as the Martell- and Ortler range up to Cima Piazzi in south-eastern direction.

Although the clouds came up quickly the panorama on the summit was still well worth seeing. On the way back however - as we passed the scenic 'Pfaffen' Lakes - the peaks of the Ortler range had already disappeared.
